About Strasys

Clarity is not a luxury.
It is a responsibility.

Health and care leaders face extraordinary pressure: rising demand, workforce constraint, operational complexity, and hard trade-offs with real human consequences. Strasys is the strategy and analytics organisation that pioneered Decision Intelligence in the NHS — turning complex evidence into confident decisions that hold.

Why we exist.

“In health and care, decisions carry real human consequences. When choices affect safety, equity and life chances, vague answers are not acceptable.”

Strasys exists to help leaders confront reality with clarity and act on it — using disciplined thinking, rigorous evidence, and practical methods that work in complex systems.

We founded the company in 2015 because we saw a gap: NHS leaders had more data than ever, but less clarity. The system was drowning in dashboards and reports, yet struggling to make confident decisions about the things that matter — safety, workforce, equity, and value.

The System Dynamics Model

Mapping 150+ operational variables across quality, workforce, finance, and flow.

The three shifts — and the real work of making them happen.

National policy is clear on the direction of travel: shifting care from hospital to community, moving from analogue to digital, and shifting from sickness to prevention. The question is not whether to make these shifts. It is how — with limited resources, competing demands, and decisions that cannot wait.

Hospital to Community

Reshaping care around the consumer and the “jobs” they are trying to get done — so demand is truly understood, not just counted.

Analogue to Digital

Moving beyond backward-looking reporting to live, predictive decision operating systems that anticipate pressure before it arrives.

Sickness to Prevention

Understanding systemic flow so that demand is managed proactively, quality strengthens, and beds stay free for those who need them most.

What we mean by Decision Intelligence

Decision Intelligence is the discipline of turning evidence into action — combining analytics with behavioural and systems insight, and embedding it into governance so decisions hold under pressure.

Signal over noise
Identifying the drivers, constraints and patterns that standard reporting entirely misses. We find what matters, not what is merely measurable.
Trade-offs made explicit
Clarifying options, consequences and risk — not just delivering generic recommendations. Leaders deserve honest clarity, not comfortable consensus.
Forward-looking clarity
Deploying scenarios and simulation where appropriate, so leadership can act earlier — before problems become crises.
Decisions that hold
Embedding practical routines, governance and capability — not just one-off analysis. The infrastructure stays after we leave.
The Strasys Test
“If it cannot be used by leaders next week, it is not decision intelligence.”

Unified capabilities.

We work across three connected capabilities — Advisory, Platform, and Academy — because decisions do not happen in silos.

Advisory

We support boards, collaboratives and systems to make high-stakes strategic choices and implement change that holds — including commissioning intentions, service reconfiguration, and performance improvement.

Platform

We turn complex evidence into usable intelligence — linking quality, workforce and value — and applying methods such as segmentation and “jobs to be done” to redesign services around real need.

Academy

We build leadership and governance capability to sustain improvement: decision routines, board effectiveness, and skill-building so teams reduce dependency on external support.

Why we work selectively.

In health and care, decisions carry real human consequences. That is why we are deliberate about where we commit our time. We prioritise deep partnerships so we can stay close to decisions and implementation, protect rigour, and deliver outcomes that last.

Our approach is designed to scale across provider groups and systems — with clear methods, governance, and repeatable ways of working. We do not sell time. We build infrastructure.

What makes us different.

The NHS does not need another consultancy that delivers advice and leaves. It needs decision infrastructure that keeps working after the engagement ends.

Proprietary products, not PowerPoints

Named, quantified methodologies — the Board Operating System™, Workforce Decision Intelligence™, Strasys Maternity Index — that stay inside the NHS.

Advisory + Analytics + Academy

A unique three-in-one model that connects strategic advice with live data intelligence and leadership capability. No other NHS consultancy operates across all three.

Designed to reduce dependency

We build capability inside organisations so they become self-sustaining. Our success is measured by how quickly you stop needing us.

Hard outcomes, publicly stated

£14M savings in 90 days. 23% agency spend reduction. We name the numbers because confidence requires evidence, not anecdotes.

Deep NHS domain expertise

We understand what a CQC inspection actually looks for, what Ockenden means for maternity governance, and what “Well-Led” requires of a board. Domain fluency is not optional.

International reach, NHS roots

From Alder Hey to Vietnam, we take NHS innovation global — partnering to build healthier, fairer communities beyond borders.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Strasys, Decision Intelligence, and how we work with the NHS.

What is Decision Intelligence?
Decision Intelligence is the discipline of turning evidence into action. It combines analytics with behavioural and systems insight, and embeds the results into governance so decisions hold under pressure. Strasys pioneered Decision Intelligence for the NHS, distinguishing it from traditional business intelligence or management consulting by focusing on what leaders should do — not just what the data shows.
What does Strasys do?
